Unless of course, you are receiving your share of the hundreds of billions of dollars in secret, drug money.   Examine the Evidence for Yourself:  

The evidence tells us that:

*** Marijuana prohibition finances terrorism,   
*** Corrupts federal, state, county, and city government officials,   
*** Raises its price dramatically, Legal production cost:  about $10 / ounce 
        Present consumer price:   about $400 per ounce  
*** Pushes marijuana "underground" into the "black market",  
*** Turns production, distribution, and billions of dollars
        in profits over to criminals, 

*** Makes criminals wealthy, and gives them enough money
        (more than 150 billion dollars every year) with which to
         corrupt corporate executives and elected officials,
*** Completely eliminates product quality and product safety,

*** Destroys the lives of hundreds of thousand of young adults
        by making criminals out of otherwise law-abiding people,  
*** Is responsible for over fifty percent of the world's criminal activity,  
*** Causes drug-related violence such as that presently going on in Mexico,   

*** Is a major contributor the the gang violence on our city streets,   
*** Supports a multi-billion-dollar police and prison industry,   
*** Pushes our political system toward a fascist-style police state, 
*** Dramatically reduces the tax base  

*** Prohibits the existence of the multi-billion-dollar hemp industry,  
*** Wastes billions of dollars of vitally needed tax money,  
*** Is a major contributor to environmental destruction,
 and does absolutely nothing to stop its use.  

Legalizing marijuana, regulating its distribution, and taxing it similar to the way alcohol is taxed, will turn this multi-billion dollar liability into a multi-billion dollar asset.   

The prohibition of alcohol was a huge, social disaster.   Criminalizing marijuana is disaster at least a hundred times worse.   Contrary to the stories you've been told, marijuana:
IS NOT  A stepping stone to other extremely harmful drugs.
                      This conclusion was the result of an intensive
                     presidential commission ordered by President Richard Nixon.  
                     Nicotine (tobacco) is that stepping stone, not marijuana.
Eliminating Prohibition WILL NOT  Promote its use.  
                     Legal or outlawed, its use is about the same. 
Prohibition DOES NOT  Reduce crime.     
                    Eliminating prohibition will dramatically reduce crime.
Prohibition DOES NOT  Reduce social problems.  
                    It dramatically increases the ones we already have.

Marijuana Prohibition makes millions of people "criminals," including at least three of our nation's Presidents - Bush, Clinton, and Obama.   The indirect financial cost (police, courts, prisons, crime victims, etc.) are staggering.   The annual loss of tax revenue is measured at least in the tens of billions of dollars.   Probably, it's more like hundreds of billions of dollars.   We invite you to examine the evidence on this website and elsewhere.

Can we get real for a moment? 

  

If you've got a a few hundred billion dollars to piss down a rat hole each year, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!   

  

If you want to continue the gang violence and the murders of innocent bystanders on our city streets, just keep marijuana prohibition in place! 

  

If you enjoy the mass murders and drug cartel violence that is presently out of control in places like Mexico, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!         

  

If you want to continue having cigarette-smoking, alcohol drinking police and politician putting young adults in prison for smoking maarijuana, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!         

  

If you'd like to continue destroying America's family farms by criminalizing and preventing the existence of a multi-billion-dollar, American hemp industry, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!  

  

If you want to continue paying $400 per ounce for a product that costs $10 an ounce to produce, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!       

  

If you want the least ethical, least moral, and most violet people on the planet to be the wealthiest people on the planet, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!         

  

If you want to continue making criminal so wealthy that they can afford to pay off police and politicians, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!         

  

If you think morality can be legislated and controlled by intimidation and violence, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!        

  

If you think that the personal, private behavior of consenting adults should be regulated by the government agents with guns and prisons, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!         

  

If you think that the seventy percent of all crime that is drug related should continue, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!         

  

If you want to continue the bribing and/or blackmailing, and or paying off  of thousands of police and politicians, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!         

  

If you want to keep billions of dollars flowing into the hands or terrorists, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!       

  

If your next, personal pay check depends upon treating marijuana users as criminals, don't look for a different job, don't complain to your boss, don't make any waves, continue destroying other people's lives so you can receive that weekly pay check,  and above all, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!         

  

If you don't give a rats ass about the environment and your willing to sacrifice the lives of your present or future grandchildren in order to continue you present lifestyle of affluence, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!         

  

And one final note:   If you've got you head up that proverbial place where the sun never shines, just keep marijuana prohibition in place!

It's All About Money  --  Well, Almost All

In the illegal drug industry, there is about 250 billion dollars that comes in in cash every year.   Over half of that (We've heard percentages of about 70%, but we don't really know the exact numbers.) comes from marijuana.   Laundering that much money each year is a big problem, but at the same time, there are billions of dollars with which to buy the solution to this problem.  

We have no idea how many people are the beneficiaries of this money, but you can safely guess that the number has to be quite large.   Most of the beneficiaries have nothing to do except occasionally "look the other way."   Those who are in key positions and are actually engaging in money laundering, understand that they function under a "silver of lead" contract.***

Drug Profits.

Anti-drug laws are still widely promoted by those who make money as a result of prohibition.   The prohibitionists claim the fighting the declared-to-be illegal drugs is the solution to America's drug problem.   The Forty year of American domestic anti-drug and anti-marijuana terrorism and a waste of Trillions of tax dollars in a totally ineffective war on drugs proves them wrong.  

The anti-drug war is the greatest failure in all of American history, that is unless you are one of the criminal raking in your share of the 250 billion dollars each and every year.   If you're one of the thousands of secret criminals and/or your job will end when prohibition ends, for you personally, prohibition is a great success.   

We wonder if the 50,000 people murdered by the drug cartels in Mexico in the last five years would have to say about the DEA's claims of success.

In explaining the failure of decades of prohibitionist legislation, former chief of police of the USA, Joseph D McNamara, wrote in National Review...

"It's the money, stupid. After 33 years as a police officer in three of the country's largest cities, that is my message to the righteous politicians who obstinately proclaim that a war on drugs will lead to a drug-free America.   About $500 of heroin or cocaine in a source country will bring in as much as $100,000 on the streets of an American city.  All the cops, armies, prisons and executions in the world cannot impede a market with that kind of tax-free profit-margin.   It is the illegality that permits the obscene mark-up, enriching drug-traffickers, distributors, dealers, crooked cops, lawyers, judges, politicians, bankers, businessmen . . ." 

Joseph McNamara is a research fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. Previously, he had been chief of police for the cities of San Jose, California, and Kansas City, Missouri. McNamara has served as an instructor and adjunct professor at four different colleges and has lectured at many of the nation's top universities, including Harvard, Stanford, and the University of California at Berkeley. He has been a consultant for the United States Department of Justice, the State Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.   

The huge profits are the direct results of prohibition.   The criminals  make these huge profits by selling illegal mind altering substance at profit margins up to 2,000%.   For Heroin, that's $2,000 in profit for every dollar in product cost.    

 

 

The Illegal Drug World Depicted on Film.

For a glimpse into what keeping drugs illegal is doing to the world, see the feature length film titled “The Untouchables," about the prohibition of alcohol,*** staring Sean Connery.   Then multiply the criminal activity seen in that film by about ten thousand  --- change the date to today  ---  expand the setting from just the United Sates to a global setting  ---  and you have an excellent symbolic description of the present-day criminal activity that is directly funded by the hundreds of billions of dollars from the sale of illegal drugs  ---  drugs that the public will buy    

***  Federal prohibition of alcohol in the united states started in January 1920 and lasted until December 1933.   It was not only a dismal failure, it was the birthplace of what today is a vast network of very-wealthy, highly-organized, secret criminals who use their inordinate wealth to dominate (or outright control) almost every government on the entire planet.

Money Laundering

  

Estimates of profits from the illegal drug industry range from about 150 billion dollars per year to about 250 billion dollars per year.   One hundred percent of that money comes to the drug cartels in the form of cash.   They then pass most of that money on to the behind-the-scenes, world leaders who actually own the drug cartels.
